Phase 1: Marinate for Maximum Flavor
- In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon zest, 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined into a fragrant marinade.
- Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring each piece is fully coated. Use your hands to really work the marinade into the chicken.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the yogurt to tenderize the chicken. For the best possible results and deepest flavor, marinate for up to 4 hours. Do not marinate for more than 4 hours, as the lemon can start to break down the chicken too much.
Phase 2: Sear for a Golden Crust
- Once your chicken is ready, preheat your oven to a steady 400°F (200°C). This ensures it's piping hot when the chicken goes in.
- Remove the chicken breasts from the marinade, letting any excess drip off back into the bowl. Discard the remaining marinade; it's done its job!
- Heat the remaining 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil in an oven-safe skillet (a cast iron or stainless steel pan works best here) over medium-high heat. You want the pan to be hot enough to sizzle when the chicken hits it.
- Carefully place the chicken breasts in the hot skillet. Sear them for 2-3 minutes per side until they develop a beautiful, golden-brown crust. Do not overcrowd the pan; sear in batches if necessary to ensure proper browning.
Phase 3: Finish in the Oven & Rest
- Once beautifully seared, transfer the skillet directly to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Use an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the chicken to ensure perfect doneness and avoid overcooking.
- Remove the skillet from the oven and transfer the perfectly cooked chicken to a cutting board. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving. Resting allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring every bite is moist and tender.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley, if desired, for a pop of color and freshness.

Notes
The Greek yogurt marinade tenderizes chicken for juiciness, while a critical pan-sear creates a crispy exterior. Always pat chicken dry, avoid overcrowding the pan, and rest after cooking. Nutrition information is estimated based on common ingredients and serving sizes and may vary.
